Bordeaux, France: Search operations were launched off a French island after an empty 13-metre sailing yacht was found drifting in Atlantic waters.

The Etel Regional Operational Surveillance and Rescue Centre deployed a helicopter and a maritime surveillance aircraft near Ile d'Yeu to find potential occupants.

A passenger aboard a Brittany Ferries vessel traveling from Portsmouth to Bilbao first raised the alert after spotting the yacht seemingly in distress.

The ferry interrupted its voyage and launched a rescue boat with three crew members, who found no signs of life aboard or nearby.

Maritime authorities confirmed that no emergency beacon was activated, and the number of missing occupants remains completely unknown.
