Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, Lieutenant General Dr Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, visited Salmaniya Medical Complex to review the latest digital transformation and development projects aimed at making healthcare more connected, efficient and patient-focused.
During the visit, he reviewed the progress of digital initiatives across government hospitals, including the new electronic medical records management system, MAK-RMS.
The system is designed to connect government hospitals through a secure electronic platform, giving authorised medical staff organised access to patient health information. The move is expected to strengthen continuity of care, speed up procedures and support more accurate clinical decision-making.
Dr Sheikh Mohammed was also briefed on efforts to improve hospital workflows and patient movement, focusing on reducing delays and making services more efficient.
His tour included outpatient clinics, clinics in the Al-Fateh building and the Accident and Emergency Unit, where he reviewed patient classification, workflow and measures being taken to improve response times and healthcare safety.
The Chairman stressed that continued investment in digital transformation and health infrastructure is essential to raising the quality and efficiency of services.
Government Hospitals Chief Executive Officer Dr Mariam Adhbi Al Jalahma said the ongoing electronic health systems, automation and digital projects represent key steps toward a more integrated and sustainable government healthcare system.
Behind the technology is a simple objective: ensuring that information moves faster, services work more efficiently and patients experience a more seamless journey through the healthcare system.
The visit also recognised the medical, nursing and administrative teams whose daily work remains central to delivering that care.
