White House launches 24/7 ‘Trump TV’ amid media access row
The new streaming channel comes as CNN, Politico and MS NOW challenge the Trump administration’s decision to bar their journalists from the White House.
Washington: The White House has launched a 24-hour streaming channel called “TRUMP TV: The Essentials Station”, offering footage of President Donald Trump, his speeches and announcements from his administration.
The channel went live on Monday through the White House’s official platforms, with its opening broadcast featuring footage of Trump’s July 3 address at Mount Rushmore and his 2025 inauguration. The White House says the service will provide major remarks, highlights and administration updates around the clock, although it remains unclear how much live coverage it will carry.
The launch came as CNN, Politico and MS NOW filed a federal lawsuit challenging the administration’s decision to remove their White House access. The organisations argue that the restrictions violate their First Amendment rights, while the administration says access to the White House is not guaranteed to individual news organisations.
The dispute has also disrupted the television press pool that provides shared footage of presidential events to news organisations. ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox News and NBC suspended the pool after CNN was barred from covering Trump, leaving the White House to provide its own footage at some events.
