KYIV: Ukraine has received the bodies of 252 fallen soldiers in a rare exchange of war dead with Russia, authorities announced Thursday.
In return, Russia received 23 bodies through the repatriation process, as reported by lawmaker Shamsail Saraliev via the RBK news outlet.
This delicate process stands out as one of the few remaining areas of direct cooperation between the two warring sides.
Ukraine's Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War confirmed the successful handover of the deceased individuals.
Local police and designated officials will now conduct all necessary examinations to officially identify the repatriated bodies.
