London: British Prime Minister Andy Burnham granted Saudi Arabia's request for limited UK military support, with the Royal Air Force prepared to conduct defensive air-to-air refuelling for Saudi aircraft as Houthi attacks from Yemen intensify.
In the following days, the United Kingdom will deploy one RAF Voyager aircraft. Burnham stated that the arrangement will be temporary and under review, describing the assistance as part of attempts to help stabilize the region and keep essential routes accessible.
The decision followed a formal request from Riyadh following an increase in Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia. Britain and Saudi Arabia have long-standing military connections, with the UK deploying its Sky Saber air-defence system to the country earlier this year.
