Saudi Civil Defence issues alerts for Mecca, Jeddah and other regions

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia's Civil Defense issued a number of alerts on Thursday, including one for Mecca City, alerting citizens of a possible threat.
The National Early Warning Platform stated that the alert was issued to notify citizens in Mecca, host to Islamic sacred shrine, of a potential threat. Separate warnings were issued for the Red Sea governorate of Yanbu, as well as the districts of Taif, Jeddah, and Tabuk.
The messages come amid rising regional tensions, and emergency warnings are normally meant to alert citizens of a potential missile or other security threat. The alerts were later lifted, with no further details immediately provided.
