Russian Drone Strike on Ukrainian Bus Kills Five

A Russian drone strike on a minibus near the frontline in southern Ukraine killed five people and wounded at least seven others on Wednesday, according to Ukrainian officials.

Dnipropetrovsk regional governor Oleksandr Ganzha said the bus was hit by a drone in the Nikopol district. Photos released by officials showed extensive damage to the vehicle.

Nikopol lies across the Dnieper River from the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, which has been under Russian control since the early stages of the 2022 invasion.

The United Nations has said civilian deaths in Ukraine are at their highest level since the first months of the war amid an escalation in attacks.
