New York: Qatar's Emir, Sheik Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, has warned that the Middle East is entering one of its most dangerous stages, with intensifying conflicts and growing regional instability.
Addressing the 81st UN General Assembly, Sheik Tamim stated that years of unresolved conflicts and delayed action had contributed to the current catastrophe. He advocated for a regional collective security structure founded on respect for national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and international law.
The emir also warned that regional conflicts could cross borders, disrupting critical infrastructure and international trade. He emphasized the need of maintaining the Strait of Hormuz open, citing its relevance to global oil supply.
Sheik Tamim urged countries to resume discussion and negotiations, adding diplomacy is critical to preventing further escalation. He also addressed the issues in Gaza and other parts of the region, urging political solutions and increased international cooperation to restore peace and stability.
He also highlighted that Qatar will continue to support diplomatic and mediation efforts aimed at resolving regional issues.
