Bahrain, Sri Lanka Discuss Expanding Parliamentary Cooperation
House Speaker Ahmed Al-Musallam highlights parliamentary exchanges, expertise-sharing and friendship committees
H.E. Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of Bahrain’s Council of Representatives, received Sri Lankan Ambassador to Bahrain Shanika Dissanayake on Wednesday following her appointment to the post.
His Excellency praised the longstanding bilateral relations between Bahrain and Sri Lanka and their continued cooperation across political, economic and cultural fields.
He highlighted the role of parliamentary cooperation in advancing bilateral ties, including stronger communication between Bahrain’s Council of Representatives and Sri Lanka’s Parliament, exchanges of visits and expertise, and greater engagement through bilateral parliamentary committees.
Ambassador Dissanayake expressed Sri Lanka’s appreciation for its growing relations with Bahrain and reaffirmed her country’s commitment to strengthening bilateral and parliamentary cooperation across various areas.
She also commended the Council of Representatives for its role in supporting relations and strengthening ties between the two countries.
