Bahrain Golf Showpiece Set For January
Royal Golf Club in Riffa to host Bahrain’s fifth DP World Tour event as the tournament remains on the calendar through at least 2036
The 2027 Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship will take place from January 28 to 31 at the Royal Golf Club in Riffa.
The dates were confirmed yesterday as the DP World Tour unveiled its schedule for next season, featuring 42 tournaments across 24 countries.
Bahrain’s premier golf event will form part of the International Swing, which also includes stops in the UAE, Qatar, Kenya and South Africa.
The swing begins with the Team Cup in Abu Dhabi from January 15 to 17, followed by the Dubai Desert Classic from January 21 to 24.
Attention will then turn to the kingdom before the tour moves to Doha for the Qatar Masters from February 3 to 6.
The 2027 tournament will mark Bahrain’s fifth time hosting a DP World Tour event, with all previous editions also held at the Royal Golf Club.
The Island first welcomed the circuit in 2011, when England’s Paul Casey won the Volvo Golf Champions.
Following a 13-year absence, the tour returned in 2024 as South African Dylan Frittelli lifted the Bahrain Championship trophy.
Englishman Laurie Canter followed with victory in 2025 before Germany’s Freddy Schott claimed his maiden DP World Tour title earlier this year.
Schott secured the biggest win of his career after prevailing in a play-off at the Riffa course.
The championship’s long-term future was secured through a 10-year partnership between the DP World Tour and the Bahrain Olympic Committee, keeping the tournament on the global calendar until at least 2036.
Next season will be divided into several swings before concluding with the DP World Tour Play-Offs in the UAE.
The Abu Dhabi Championship will be held from November 4 to 7, followed by the season-ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai from November 11 to 14.
