A’ali Walkway Reopens After Major Upgrade

The inauguration was attended by Undersecretary for Municipalities Affairs Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Northern Municipal Council Chairman Dr. Sayed Shabbar Ibrahim Al Wadaa’i, Northern Municipality Director General Mohammed Saad Al Suhaili, and Northern Governorate Sixth Constituency Municipal Council member Abdullah Abdulhamid Ashoor.

During a tour of the walkway, the minister and officials reviewed the completed development works. The project included replacing the flooring, maintaining the shaded areas and public facilities, and upgrading the lighting system with solar-powered lamps.

The improvements also included installing security cameras, maintaining the sports area, increasing landscaping and greenery, and installing a water-mist cooling system, along with other upgrades aimed at providing a more integrated and comfortable environment for visitors.

A’ali Walkway is one of the key sports and recreational facilities in the Northern Governorate. Its walking track extends for around one kilometre and covers an area of approximately 23,175 square metres. The facility includes various sports and recreational amenities, including exercise equipment and designated play areas.

Al Mubarak said the development and reopening of A’ali Walkway reflects the ministry’s efforts to continue upgrading public facilities across Bahrain, improve municipal services for citizens and residents, and support the objectives of the Kingdom’s comprehensive development process.

He said the project represents a valuable addition to public facilities in the Northern Governorate by providing spaces suitable for sports and recreational activities and creating a suitable environment for residents and visitors.

The minister also stressed the importance of continuing to develop public facilities in line with the needs of different areas across Bahrain.

Dr. Al Wadaa’i welcomed the completion of the A’ali Walkway development project, saying it reflects efforts to provide service and sports facilities that meet the needs of residents and walkway users.

He said the development works would improve the quality of the available facilities and encourage greater use of the walkway for sports and recreational activities. He also praised the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture for implementing the project.

Ashoor said the reopening of the developed walkway demonstrates attention to the needs of residents and provides an environment suitable for sports and recreational activities.

He also commended the ministry’s efforts in implementing service projects that improve public facilities and respond to the expectations of residents.
