70 Students Join Askar Beach Clean-Up

Around 70 students took part in a beach clean-up campaign at Askar Beach Walk as part of activities marking World Cleanup Day, observed annually on September 20.

The campaign was organised by the Southern Municipality and the Southern Municipal Council, in cooperation with the Scouting Activities Section of the Ministry of Education’s Physical Education Department.

Students joined municipality officials and employees in cleaning the walkway and beach, removing various types of waste collected across the area.

The campaign aimed to help maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the coastal area while raising environmental awareness among participating students.

The Southern Municipality said such initiatives help strengthen cooperation with educational and community organisations and promote a sense of shared responsibility for protecting the environment and public facilities.

The campaign also encouraged students to adopt positive practices, reduce behaviours that negatively affect public spaces and play an active role in keeping Bahrain’s beaches and public areas clean.

The initiative highlighted the importance of cooperation between government bodies, educational institutions and the wider community in supporting environmental efforts and improving quality of life.
