Muscat: Oman has postponed a planned meeting on the future of the Strait of Hormuz, delaying talks over the vital oil and gas route amid the regional war.

Iran had proposed discussions involving Iraq and Gulf countries, while Oman said the postponement was intended to create conditions for more constructive dialogue.

The Strait of Hormuz is crucial to global oil and gas supplies and has faced an Iranian and later US blockade since February 28.

Meanwhile, increased Houthi attacks have added pressure on the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, another major route for global shipping.
