More Than 100 Feared Dead in Gold Mine Collapse on CAR-Cameroon Border

Bangui: More than 100 miners are feared dead after a gold mine collapsed in Zamboye, a border village in the Central African Republic.

Cameroon’s state broadcaster reported that more than 100 people were killed, while local reports said 107 bodies had been recovered.

Rescue teams are continuing efforts to reach miners believed to be trapped underground.

The collapse occurred in the afternoon on the CAR side of the border with Cameroon.
