Fairphone has officially entered the US smartphone market with the Fairphone (Gen. 6+), bringing its modular, repair-focused approach to American consumers for the first time through direct sales.

Priced at $649.99, the Gen. 6+ is designed to challenge the throwaway culture surrounding smartphones. Users can replace key components themselves using a simple Torx T5 screwdriver, including parts such as the battery, display and USB-C port. The phone has 12 replaceable modules, allowing owners to repair rather than replace the entire device.

The phone features a 6.31-inch 120Hz OLED display, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor. It runs Android 16 and is promised software support through 2033.

Fairphone also highlights its sustainability efforts, using more than 50% fair or recycled materials by weight and offering a five-year warranty. The company says the US version will work with AT&T and T-Mobile.

The launch marks an important step for Fairphone as it takes its repairable-phone philosophy into one of the world's biggest smartphone markets.
