A magnitude 5.0 earthquake was recorded in western Iran on Monday evening, according to the UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology.

The tremor was detected at around 7:01 p.m. UAE time, with the earthquake occurring in western parts of Iran. Authorities continue to monitor seismic activity in the region, while no major damage or casualties had been reported in the initial reports.

The earthquake comes as parts of the region remain seismically active, with authorities urging residents to follow official safety instructions in the event of further tremors.
