Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has urged the United States and the international community to intervene and stop Israeli attacks after strikes in southern Lebanon killed at least four people on Sunday, despite a ceasefire.

Lebanon's Health Ministry said two women were among those killed, while six others were wounded, including two girls. Aoun described the strikes as a "dangerous escalation", particularly after government facilities and an unused hospital were damaged.

Israel said its forces targeted Hezbollah operatives and sites following a drone attack by the Iran-backed group on Israeli troops in southern Lebanon. Hezbollah has not claimed responsibility for the alleged attack.

Tensions have intensified after Israel announced that its forces had taken control of the strategic Ali Al-Taher ridge near Nabatieh, within a self-declared security zone.

The latest strikes have raised concerns over the durability of the US-brokered ceasefire and prompted renewed calls for international intervention to prevent further escalation.
