Beirut: An Israeli dawn airstrike on a home in Ansar village in southern Lebanon killed seven people and injured three others on Saturday, according to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency. Rescue teams examined the rubble for survivors and found the victims.
Lebanon’s Health Ministry reported that the dead included three children and two women. The strike destroyed the targeted house and was said to be the bloodiest Israeli attack in southern Lebanon since a ceasefire in warfare between Israel and Hezbollah in June.
The strike comes despite a US-mediated framework set in June aimed at Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon and Hezbollah disarmament. Israel claims that its continued strikes are targeting Hezbollah infrastructure and military activity, as tensions in the region remain high.
