New Delhi: Seven unknown bodies have been recovered by Indian police from the Gandak (Narayani) river in Uttar Pradesh's Maharajganj and Kushinagar districts, thought to have been washed downstream from Nepal after disastrous floods. The surging river brought flooding and debris into Indian territory, necessitating recovery efforts by local officials.

India has also increased aid to flood-ravaged Nepal, sending relief materials and expert rescue workers. Indian experts are assisting Nepalese teams in their search for those suspected to be trapped under hydroelectric tunnels, and India has also offered basic humanitarian aid.

Floods and landslides in Nepal and Tibet have killed hundreds of people and left thousands missing, with rescue efforts continuing despite tough terrain, rising water levels, and the possibility of further flooding.
