Commanders reviewed joint efforts to enhance security and safe navigation

The 24th meeting of the Commanders of the Naval Forces of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states concluded in Bahrain.

The meeting was hosted by the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), represented by the Royal Bahrain Naval Force, in the presence of Major General Staff Salman bin Ibrahim Al Fadhala, Assistant Secretary General for Military Affairs at the GCC General Secretariat, and Major General Staff Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Al Balawi, Commander of the GCC Unified Military Command.

The meeting reviewed several agenda items focused on developing the operational aspects of the GCC maritime system, particularly maritime security and navigational safety in the Arabian Gulf.

Discussions covered the coordination of roles, harmonisation of operational and defence concepts, and the enhancement of cooperation and integration in joint operations among the GCC naval forces.

The meeting also addressed ways to strengthen maritime security capabilities in GCC states to respond to various challenges while supporting freedom of navigation and safeguarding maritime routes across the region.
