Moscow: The death toll from a fire at the Amur Gas Chemical Complex in Russia's Far East has increased to 15, according to the corporation, as search and rescue efforts continue at the industrial complex.

A fire broke out on Tuesday at the facility in Russia's Amur region, near the Chinese border. The factory is a joint venture between Russian petrochemical giant Sibur and Sinopec of China. Earlier, the corporation claimed seven deaths, including six Chinese nationals, with other workers still missing.

Authorities are examining the incident for potential violations of industrial safety regulations. More than 150 people sought medical assistance after the incident, with scores requiring hospitalisation.
