London: Jason Arday, 41, a former University of Cambridge professor, was found dead at an address in Battersea, south London, on Friday. Police said his death was unexpected, but it is not being investigated as suspicious.

Arday had resigned from Cambridge just days before, following claims of plagiarism and scrutiny of his academic record. He denied wilfully plagiarising content.

Arday, a sociologist who specialises in race and inequality, made history in 2023 by becoming Cambridge's youngest Black professor. His death comes amid ongoing speculation about the claims that prompted his departure.
