Boat seized after violating maritime ban and allegedly attempting to flee

The Coast Guard arrested three people and administratively seized their boat after they violated Bahrain’s maritime ban, which is in effect from 6:30pm to 4am. The Ministry of Interior said the incident occurred during routine maritime monitoring and safety operations.

Radar and coastal cameras detected the boat leaving the shore and heading towards northern waters. When Coast Guard patrols ordered it to stop, the boat allegedly ignored repeated warnings, attempted to flee and deliberately collided with a patrol vessel, causing damage and leaving two Coast Guard personnel with various injuries.

Two people aboard the boat fell into the sea and were rescued safely, while patrols continued pursuing the vessel. The boat eventually reached shallow waters, where the third person attempted to escape.

The Maritime Operations Centre tracked and located the individual using radar and coastal cameras, leading to his arrest and the securing of the boat. The Coast Guard said legal action has been taken against all three people and urged sea users to follow maritime regulations, observe ban hours and immediately comply with patrol instructions.
