Brussels: The European Commission announced on Monday that ChatGPT, Reddit, and Roblox will be subject to the EU's strictest digital-platform standards, including stricter measures for safety, transparency, and responsibility.
The three services fall under the Digital Services Act (DSA) framework for 'very large' internet platforms and search engines. The guidelines compel large platforms to identify and manage systemic issues, including as illegal content, disinformation, threats to user safety, and hazards to children, while also giving greater openness about how their services operate.
The move places the platforms among huge internet giants that already face the EU's most stringent digital regulation. Companies subject to the requirements may risk hefty penalties for failing to comply.
