Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Chief Executive of the National Cybersecurity Centre, chaired the fifth meeting of the GCC Ministerial Committee for Cybersecurity in Bahrain.
The meeting was held as part of the Kingdom’s presidency of the 46th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and was attended by GCC Secretary-General Jassem Mohammed Al Budaiwi.
Shaikh Salman highlighted the importance of the committee as a platform for strengthening Gulf integration and cooperation in cybersecurity, while working towards unified strategic approaches to shared cyber challenges.
He said closer coordination would support the development of joint GCC initiatives and policies, strengthen the cyber readiness of member states and help build a secure and integrated Gulf cybersecurity system.
The meeting also focused on the need to coordinate Gulf positions on cybersecurity issues and develop policies and frameworks for joint action in response to rapidly evolving technological threats.
Participants reviewed progress on GCC cybersecurity programmes and initiatives and discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation and coordination between member states.
The meeting also explored efforts to build a secure and trusted cyberspace that protects the common interests of GCC countries and supports their sustainable development goals.
