Nagoya: The 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, began with men's 5×5 basketball on September 10, prior to the formal opening ceremony. The formal opening ceremony is set for September 19, although sports activities begins nine days earlier.
Qatar is among the teams that have started their season early. The Qatari men's team is in Group B with Iran, Jordan, and Chinese Taipei, with their opening match against Iran. The team will then face Jordan and Chinese Taipei in the preliminary round.
The men's basketball tournament goes till September 20, with the quarterfinals on September 16 and the semifinals on September 18. The medal match will take place on September 20.
The Asian Games will take place from September 19 to October 4, bringing together around 11,000 athletes from 45 countries and territories throughout Asia. Other sports, such as football and volleyball, will begin before the official opening ceremony.
