Amazon Cuts AI Jobs as Billions Pour Into Artificial Intelligence

Seattle: Amazon has cut off people from its artificial intelligence operation, as the internet titan continues to invest billions of dollars in improving its AI capabilities.

The job losses are said to affect employees in Amazon's artificial general intelligence (AGI) section, which is focusing on sophisticated AI systems. The layoffs come as the company increases investment on AI infrastructure, such as data centers, processing capacity, and other technologies required to support its expanding AI goals.

Amazon has joined other large technology businesses in making significant investments in artificial intelligence, seeing it as a vital driver of future growth. However, the rearrangement of its AI staff demonstrates how firms are increasing expenditure on AI while also reducing teams and removing roles.

As Amazon reorganises its workforce and resources around its long-term AI goal, the layoffs are a part of larger organisational changes.
