Major AI platforms ChatGPT, Claude and Google Gemini faced service disruptions on Thursday, September 3, affecting users and raising questions about the reliability of some of the world’s most widely used AI tools.

OpenAI reported elevated errors affecting ChatGPT and Codex, with users experiencing problems across features including conversations, logins, file uploads, voice mode, search and image generation. OpenAI later said affected services had recovered from its reported incident.

Anthropic’s Claude also experienced elevated errors, including issues affecting some of its models. Its status page later showed the incident as resolved.

Google’s Gemini was also reported to have partial service problems, particularly affecting some API users and newly created API keys.

The simultaneous disruptions across several major AI platforms sparked widespread discussion online. The exact cause of the problems has not been confirmed, and it remains unclear whether the incidents were connected
