Viacha, Bolivia : At least 10 people were killed and dozens injured after two explosions at a military facility in Viacha, about 30km from La Paz, authorities said.
The blasts happened on Friday in an area where pyrotechnic materials were stored. Local health authorities said the death toll could be between 10 and 15, while 62 people were reported injured.
Fourteen injured people were taken to hospitals in La Paz, including a girl who suffered third-degree burns. Several others were treated at medical centres in Viacha.
The explosions also damaged about 50 nearby homes, with many civilians hurt by broken glass. Seven people were still missing, police said.
Firefighters warned that a heat source remained at the site and advised residents to stay at least 150 metres away because of the risk of further explosions.
Authorities are investigating what caused the blasts, how the pyrotechnic material was stored and whether anyone was responsible.
