Bahrain International Airshow (BIAS 2016)
Preparations are in full swing for the Bahrain International Airshow (BIAS 2016) to be held from 21st January to 23rd January at the Sakhir Air Base. The Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications Kamal Ahmed along with senior officials of Royal Bahraini Air Force and Transportation Ministry reviewed the preparation for the air show. The minister expressed full confidence in the preparations and added that there will be record number of participants in BIAS 2016. This year new participating countries have come on board including Taiwan, Kuwait and Sudan and will witness 139 companies from 34 countries participating, according to Ahmed Al Nemah, Acting Undersecretary of Civil Aviation Affairs at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications. India will be a big participant in the show with state-of-the-art airborne platforms and associated sensors and communication systems designed and developed by DRDO on display. India's Light Combat Aircraft Tejas will be flying outside the country's airspace at the Bahrain airshow and is expected to generate great interest. BIAS 2016 is expected to witness signing of many agreements. Kingdom's Gulf Air has also indicated that it will be making some exciting announcements during the event. Hawks from Saudi Arabia, the UAE's Al Fursan, the Russian Knights and solo aerobatics from Mark Jefferies are among the many attractions on offer at the show. The action and speed in the sky will be complemented by a host of on-ground attractions, dining options and entertainment. Highlights will include a heritage handicrafts village as well as a fantastic range of games and activities to suit all ages, including a flight simulator, the organisers said.
